Sen. Bernie Sanders: We the People
Re: Citizen's United decision and need for a constitutional amendment to overturn it.
Sanders is the real deal. Read it... he's elaborating on the thoughts you are having.
A collection of ideas, letters, opinions, and inspiration. On freedom, on Generation X, modern society, the ethereal dance of the unconquered mind (ok, that's the name of a photo exhibit in San Jose, but it's nifty sounding), the Democratic Party, how much rock and roll and the web will fuel activism, things worth chronicling, things we can improve, and the future.

I've been thinking some about the Winter Solstice, the Mayan end of the 30,000-year-cycle on 12/21/12.
What if in fact the world did end? Even though this probably will not happen, to live consciously it is honest for us to take a bit of an inventory.
Am I happy with how I've lived my life? (Yesterday, I thought mostly yes, with some areas for improvement, as below.) Are there changes I would make?
Would I have tried to forgive those that were hostile or disappointing to me?
Would I spend more time with those I loved the most, telling them that, feeling that more?
Would I be happier, grateful for what I have, what I've experienced, the joy, the beauty in this world?
Maybe the answer is yes to all of the above.
So this time can serve as a point of rebirth for all of us. If we think about it.
Because somewhere along the line I realized I think maybe mankind deserves it. !
The way we are killing each other, killing the planet.
How selfish we are, and snotty to those around us. Petty, competitive. Why is this? Do we have to behave this way? (I say no, it greatly detracts and misdirects energy from the full-time celebration in which we could engage, the great multi-cultural, multi-rhythmic dance we can sustain here.)
Maybe God or the Great Universe is fed up, and will pull the rug out from under us.
Don't think I can say we could blame Him/Her/It.
But it probably won't happen. (Probably not! This time.)
Still we are finite on this ride.
It is a time to think, am I happy with how I've lived my life?
Hopefully most of us can say yes.
For the part of us that have a little worry, a little sadness....
This is the time to be present.
This is the time to be the person you want to be, that can die at peace, that can hope to every day be able to look yourself and the Universe in the eye and say, how beautiful, smiling, and thank you. Let's do that.

To Whom It May Concern:
Citizen's United most certainly did a wrong in having the federal law changed regarding corporate financing of elections where all the laws protecting the electoral process from big money are now waived. However, once again, this is not the problem. (Quickly, the tenth admendment to The Constitution can solve this right quick.)
The wonderful articles posted on this site are excellent points to be discussed, but back to the issue. I digress.
The issue of maintaining the United States of America as a functioning Constitutional Republic is one of taking back control of the money issuing process. Please see Abraham Licoln and Greenbacks. But more pressing is taking the Federal Reserve and auditing it and ultimately consigning it to the dustbin of history, i.e. end it.
The Federal Reserve quite frankly is neither. Please see the works of G. Edward Griffin, especially "The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve," to learn how the United States has long ago been usurped from within and from foreign lands with the creation of fiat currency controlled by an unelected few. Simply put, fiat currency has allowed incredibly fat cats to emerge through corruption for one, has made inflation a real threat, and has all but killed competition.
The United States of America can not survive much longer with fiat currency. All mighty empires with such a system have fallen. However, with people like Mr. Edwards, or the documented patriotic citizens of the United States, on the case... they will not let this happen.
Also, beware the false sanctity of universal health care. Beware of what you wish for with a Therapeutic State. Please see the writings of Dr. Thomas Szasz for explanations here. So-called free health care is a myth, not only with the user fees charged in Canada alone.
Finally, with respect to elections...
take back the ballot box. This can be done in three ways. The first is to exercise one's franchise, or to vote. The second is to destroy your ballot if you really want to protest something with the vote. These destroyed ballots are counted and give the rulers a true idea of the discontent of the ruled. And third, get rid of all forms of balloting except for paper ballots counted by hand under supervision. Please see a recent Florida court room session where a computer programmer - under oath - said that there are back door computer openings to enable manipulations of ballots with electronic voting machines.
There is a sincere call to Americans to take back their revered Constitutional Republic before it is too late occurring these days. History may be repeating itself with fiat currency alone. I sincerely hope it does not.
Again, what a fantastic website.
