The GOP non-compromise -- shunting middle-class and lower-class America and completely protecting the Bush-tax code wealthy and non-tax paying uber-companies -- is going to come back and bite them on the ass.
I think moderate America is going to ask for a divorce from the GOP next election, in a big way.
Holding one's breath and non-compromising, while risking America's default(!), is a low, extremely dangerous way to keep your ideologies and special treatment intact. It put our country's reputation and stability at risk. It's shameless, reckless, heinous behavior by elected officials charged with protecting the common good. They should be ashamed of themselves, and most Americans will have trouble looking at them tomorrow. Looking at them on a ballot, and that stink now associated with their party, it's hard to imagine someone pulling the lever. They may have won the day, but I am nearly certain they have lost their way and turn in the House.
