Adding 1 million people along the Wilshire corridor could help L.A. create a sustainable city - LA Times
Holy snot! This is great, and crazy. One can barely get into and out of the UCLA / Wilshire area as it is. Fantastical, ridiculous, phatasmogorical future planning! Eek!!!
Comment on the LA Times expanded the emotion:

(Read with incredibly dense sarcasm). This IS CRAZY. One can barely get
into and out of the UCLA / Wilshire area as it is. Fantastical,
ridiculous, phatasmogorical future planning from Mr. Mayne! Eek!!!
And he really thinks none of these millions will bring cars into that area, that already suffers from near complete gridlock how many hours out of each day?
The ONLY way this makes sense is to literally deny any new cars to accompany any of these Los Angelenos. No new parking, ONLY public transportation for them. Sorry. I grew up here, and lived in the BAY AREA FOR SEVEN YEARS, AND YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT A CAR IN THE BAY AREA ONLY BECAUSE OF BART AND THE NARROWNESS (READ: WALKABILITY) OF THE COMMUNITIES BART SERVES. HERE OUR PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS FAR INSUFFICIENT AND INFERIOR. AND THE CITY AND ROADS ARE ALREADY FULL. Great that policy wonks envision this stuff in academia. Look where such optimistic 'urban planning' has already left this once mellow, laid back and pleasant not-vertically planned city. YIKES. We long term Los Angelenos are being punished daily to try to traverse a Bombay-like dense roadway situation now.
I'll REPEAT: To me, as a hopeful realist, the ONLY way this makes sense is to literally deny any new cars to accompany any of these Los Angelenos. Sorry. It's so hostile to get around this city already. I was born in Manhattan, but surely never wanted to live there.« less
