Good. It's time for the backwards party to modernize. Perhaps some factions will press some progress into the party platform, like climate change is man-made and bad, torture is against the Geneva convention, immigrants and gays are people too, all manner of 21st civilized nation notions. Or not.
But there is some hope that within the chaos, a more mature, relevant Republican Party will emerge. Hope so. They are riding into obsolescence super fast currently.
"Past presidents, party leaders and prominent Republicans are all choosing sides, from unenthusiastic acceptance (Bob Dole) to pledges not to vote for either party in November (former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Lindsey Graham) to musings about a third-party bid (Bill Kristol)."
