SoCal Gas reportedly knew about corroding pipes a year before gas leak - L.A. Biz
Anyone who thinks natural gas is safe, after this, is a knucklehead.
Thousands have been sickened, and evacuated, and exposed to methane and the toxic carcinogen benzene. Here
The climate and environmental costs have been astronomical - like HALF A MILLION CARS driving for a full year of emissions. This figure was as of two weeks ago. Here
The cost of moving people is astronomical -- $5 million so far just for two schools! Over 2500 families have been relocated and almost 5000 have applied for relocation. Here
The EPA is investigating. It seems company engineers knew of pipe corrosion.

This all for the leak from one natural gas well. ONE. WELL. Think wind turbines or solar panels could do any of this? (Answer: No.)
As scientists say, all wells leak. All of them.
Anyone still fired up about natural gas? Or our Governor Jerry Brown tying our state's grid future to natural gas?
We need to change our energy portfolio immediately away from fossil fuel.
In just a few short years, solar power has gotten big in California, and now it’s at the top of the renewable energy heap. Pete Danko KQED -- 1/11/16
