A collection of ideas, letters, opinions, and inspiration. On freedom, on Generation X, modern society, the ethereal dance of the unconquered mind (ok, that's the name of a photo exhibit in San Jose, but it's nifty sounding), the Democratic Party, how much rock and roll and the web will fuel activism, things worth chronicling, things we can improve, and the future.
I remember this General Strike in Oakland like it was yesterday. Today is January, 23, 2012.
I also remember General Strikes in Canada. Particularly in the 1980's. A whole Province's Unionized members would go on strike. In B.C., the Province was particularly polarized. (Now it seems the Unions are almost a thing of the past... they are almost part-time now all across Canada it seems.)
I know when the Unions in New York City want to make a statement, the Sanitation Department goes out on strike. When the garbage piles up, the powers that be listen.
Teachers going on strike in Oakland is a good sign, but where was a sustained garbage strike?
We can change the world if one's thinking that way. Creativity always prevails.
