Can the Planet Support 10 Billion People? - Room for Debate - NYTimes.com
You have heard of zero population growth?
For each person already on the Earth, bring no more than one new one in?
So for a couple, two children is the right and maximum number?
This is a good and practical construct. Think about it, and try to imagine a world comfortable for your children, rather than a 10 billion person, totally overcrowded world, with insufficient food, water, and jobs, necessitating mass strife and wars for resources, etc. Let's not go there.
