How Dumb Are We? - Yahoo! News
This probably explains a lot of things that have me puzzling and fuming over how to inspire and inform.
“'The problem is ignorance, not stupidity,' Hacker says. 'We suffer from a lack of information rather than a lack of ability.' Whether that’s a treatable affliction or a terminal illness remains to be seen. But now’s the time to start searching for a cure."
The two-fisted blow of selective news reportage (for example, see my blog *comment* at the bottom of the Nuclear Preparedness story above, on a Google story posted and then curiously pulled) as well as American dense self-interest has created the environment for ignorance, and of course non-action, in important times. We keep trudging along, occasionally looking up and seeking the break in the trees, sunlight hitting our faces. Then go back to our narrow, fiercely-defended trudging paths.
